3-D Imaging (CBCT)

At Tweed District Dental, we use a range of modern technology to assist in diagnosing, monitoring and treating your oral health issues and concerns. 

Leading the way is our use of Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) technology, which is the new standard in dental care. Unlike regular, X-ray machines, which only take 2-D images of parts of your mouth, a CBCT machine allows us to scan and record a set of successive images to build up a 3-D image of your entire mouth cavity—all in one short session. 

Not only does CBCT provide a more in-depth assessment of the health of your mouth than a conventional X-ray, but it is also faster and more accurate. 

How does any of this benefit you? Well, aside from being quick, painless and providing less radiation exposure than a traditional CT scan, you gain from your treating dentist having a better idea of what's going on inside your mouth. With this knowledge, he or she is better able to plan for your dental treatment and provide you with the level of quality care you need and expect. 

CBCT does not need any special preparation on your behalf. Only you will need to tell us if you are pregnant, or suspect you might be pregnant.
